The main opposition part VMRO-DPMNE will not support the demand from the SDSM led ruling coalition to have the Parliament shift to online voting. SDSM and its coalition with DUI and BESA have only 62 seats in the Parliament, and with half a dozen of their representatives sick with Covid-19 it’s become impossible to even hold a session without the opposition present. In response, SDSM wants to have the sick representatives vote online, despite a clear constitutional article that the Parliament can only work when more than half of its representatives are present.

We do not support violating the Constitution and acting outside of the Constitution and this includes online voting. We need to stick to the principles, and a principled position is that we can’t violate the Constitution, Mickoski said.

A move by Speaker Talat Xhaferi to open this discussion was boycotted today by all opposition parties, giving it slim chances of advancing on the floor.
