VMRO-DPMNE representatives in the Parliament have submitted amendments to the 2021 budget demanding urgent policies to reduce pollution. Timco Mucunski from VMRO-DPMNE said that this is a crisis issue which is costing lives and presented a report from the O2 organization which the amendments are based on.
The proposals call for funding so that 25,000 households who use wood and coal for heating can place air filters on their chimneys, introduction of clean energy sources in the heating of public institutions and catalysts on buses and construction vehicles that are used in the most polluted cities.
The Parliament is debating the 2021 budget, and VMRO submitted over 500 amendments. Opposition participation in the debate can prove crucial to adopting the budget, given how narrow the ruling majority is.
