An incident erupted in Skopje’s Trnodol district, where a municipal representative wanted to present the new development plan. Citizens from this area, on a Vodno hillside, insist that the plan will lead to over-development and they expelled the representatives from the Karpos municipality.
You take our money and bring thugs with you! Get out!, the angry Tronodol residents are heard shouting as the meeting was abruptly ended.
More than a 100 people arrived for the meeting where 30 seats were planned. Vodno is a highly desirable residential and diplomatic location and parts of it have seen the development of huge residential buildings, which have caused major problems for the existing residents. Trnodol has been mostly spared so far, but the residents are wary of any new development plans.
The Karpos town hall was having none of it. Mayor Stefan Bogoev issued a press release accusing the residents of acting like criminals and deliberately provoking an incident.
Our official was assaulted and the local office was damaged. We are conducting the entire process transparently and we allowed 11 days to debate the proposed spatial plan, when we were required by law to allow only five. In the preceding period Mayor Stefan Bogoev and other officials met with the concerned citizens and we agreed on the fundamentals. We are also briefing the press, the municipal press release states.
Bogoev was interrogated as part of the Racket scandal, after it was alleged that he was working with his close friend, businessman Bojan Jovanovski – Boki 13, to facilitate his real-estate deals in Karpos.
