European People’s Party (EPP) leader Manfred Weber and EPP candidate for European Commission presidential election spring 2019 thanked VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski in a letter for his support.

I hope you had a good start in the New Year. I wish you all the best for the challenges you expect in 2019. I wanted to thank you for your letter and your wishes for my campaign that you sent after my nomination in Helsinki as the main candidate of the EPP. Your words have convinced me that I am doing the right thing with my nomination for the presidency of the European Commission, says Webber in the letter and adds: However, my nomination was only the first step. EPP is a constructive and reliable political force. Our ideas for the next legislative term are ambitious. It is now important to persuade our citizens to trust us with their vote in May. The European idea is worth the effort. After all, we owe it so much: prosperity, security and, most importantly, peace, these are great achievements. The weeks and months ahead of us will decide whether we will be able to get a strong mandate for a real journey to build our center-right Europe. Therefore, I would be extremely grateful if you continue to support my nomination as President of the Commission.
