Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi avoided answering whether he thinks that the SDSM – DUI coalition has majority. When asked by the press, Xhaferi replied “I have 120 members of Parliament” – which is the full number of seats.

SDSM lost their BESA coalition partner, which means the “majority” has less than 60 votes. Zaev is involved in negotiations with the Alternative party, which could put him above 61 again, but they are likely to demand major concessions.

It’s not clear whether the Government will be able to adopt the 2022 budget, and it is currently dependent on the opposition merely to begin a session.
