Rubin Zemon was named member of the Macedonian Parliament today, after Tomislav Tuntev, head of the SDSM party group, resigned to take up the lucrative position as head of the ACVP public air traffic control office.
Tuntev resigned just as the Parliament is beginning the final vote on the proposal to rename Macedonia into North Macedonia, and his move was widely seen as an attempt to avoid personal responsibility for the vote.
Zemon is the next candidate on the SDSM list and he was promptly admitted to Parliament, in the expectation he will reliably support Zaev’s proposal. He is an ethnic Egyptian political activist who worked as Zaev’s adviser.
