As the two day period of no campaigning begins on midnight, opposition leader Hristijan Mickoski apppealed to the supporters to vote for Gordana Siljanovska – Davkova for President. In an Alfa TV interview, Mickoski said that the public has nothing more to expect from the Zoran Zaev Government expect being a continued national embarrassment.

By now, everybody understands that Zaev’s fight was not to “bring life back” to Macedonia, as he promised, but to cash in and to abuse his office. Some people honestly trusted him, sincerely believed in Zoran Zaev. Almost two years later, what have you got to show for it? We have a massive number of SDSM supporters coming to our rallies, long time party members come to us, tell us how disappointed they are, Mickoski said.

According to the VMRO leader, voters should understand by now that Zaev’s promises that the name change will bring in better living standards have not materialized.

They can’t keep making the same excuse, that the entire Government does nothing because it was preoccupied with the name change. What is his Transportation Minister doing all day, except that he signed that additional contract for the Kicevo – Ohrid highway worth extra hundreds of millions of dollars? They promised you an increased average salary and it dropped 5 percent in 2019. They hiked your taxes. Farmers are forced to throw their crops away, their apples and rice. No farmer told us they are satisfied with the agriculture policies. And in the meantime, their Agriculture Minister brags about buying a new pair of sneakers in Dubai, Mickoski said.

Mickoski accused the Zaev Government of electoral irregularities, after Zaev’s SDSM party commissioned an Android app to harvest data from voters. Zaev insisted that it was prepared in cooperation with the Swedish socialist sister parties and that “it was not illegal”.

Is it according to the Swedish style of democracy to have a server collecting identity numbers from voters? It doesn’t look Swedish to me, Mickoski said, as additional revelations about the scandal appear daily.

VMRO-DPMNE will not accept amending the Constitution to allow the President to be elected in Parliament, as Zaev announced in case the election fails due to low turnout. Mickoski called on the voters, including the boycott supporters, to give Gordana Siljanovska a chance and promised that a win at the presidential elections will begin the process of taking down Zaev’s Government. This, he said, would be the best way to protect the Republic of Macedonia.
