The interim Government of Austria again proposed Johannes Hahn as its representative in the European Commission.
Hahn would thus receive his third term in the Commission, but it is unclear whether he would retain the office of enlargement, which he held in his second term. During his mandate Hahn was instrumental in managing the political crisis in Macedonia, the political rise of Zoran Zaev and the forced name change.
Hungary also expressed interest in the department. It’s nominating its outgoing Justice Minister Laszlo Trocsanyi to the Commission and wants to have him involved with the enlargement process, which Hungary strongly supports.
