BESA party leader Bilal Kasami says that the Special Prosecutor’s Office completely failed at its declared task – to restore the rule of law in Macedonia, and turned out to be a political tool of the SDSM party.
From this perspective, the feeling is that the Special Prosecutor’s Office was used solely to replace the Government. Especially now, with the latest decision when all their cases were given to the OJO prosecutors, it turns out that only result they achieved to replace Gruevski with Zaev as Prime Minister. No moves were made to stamp out crime and corruption which have plagued the country all these years, Kasami said in an interview with Radio Free Europe, where he discussed the major racketeering scandal that has shaken the Zaev Government.
The SPO is currently being disbanded, after its chief Special Prosecutor Katica Janeva was caught abusing the office and extorting millions from businessmen she was prosecuting, apparently under the coverage of the Zaev Government.
BESA joins the opposition calls for early elections and is particularly scathing in its criticism of its main rival, the ruling ethnic Albanian party DUI, which he blames for failing to represent Albanian interest and for its high level of corruption.
