Five days after the devastating bus disaster in Bulgaria in which 45 passengers were killed, the owner of the bus, Bekim Haxhiu, issued a statement.

May Allah grant Paradise to the deceased, and speedy recovery to those injured. I say these words with sorrow and a wounded heart. They were like our family, we always considered our passengers to be our family. Allah tests us and all faithful accept his tests, his will can’t be altered, Haxhiu wrote on his Facebook account.

His company was stripped of its license after a number of regulatory violations, that raised questions about the safety of the bus. Bulgarian investigators are focusing on both the safety of the highway where the accident happened and on the reason why the bus burst into flames so quickly.
