A poll conducted in Bulgaria over who is the most important national hero in the country’s history did not include Goce Delcev – even though Bulgarian historians and politicians are trying to push Macedonia to declare him as a Bulgarian.
The list is dominated by the leading Bulgarian revolutionary hero Vasil Levski, and, other than Ss. Cyril and Methodius, it does not include many figures who are prominent in the historic dispute between the two countries.
