An incumbent minister and an adviser to Prime Minister Zaev are involved in the latest corruption affair which opposition leader Hristijan Mickoski announced earlier.

The names of two senior officials have been circulating on social media for several days, but no transcripts, videos or audiotapes of the scandal have been posted on Twitter for which it has been said that if corruption allegations emerge and are proven, it could cause a catastrophe in relations with the EU and permanently delay the negotiation date.

According to social media reports, the two senior officials were part of a government body that decided on the allocation of European funds and allowed the allocation of funds to inappropriate organizations and individuals to commit a series of irregularities contrary to Macedonian law and European procedures.

The government had been warned by experts that crime was committed in the case, but those who reported it received no response.
