Defense Minister Radmila Sekerinska spoke to the press after the outbreak of scabies in the Veles army barracks. According to the Minister, the illness was located in a soldier who recently volunteered, and who has now been sent off.

At least two additional soldiers were affected and are being observed.

It is a volunteer soldier who was found to be in good health when he started to serve his term, but after a while the illness appeared. Scabies could not have been registered at the time. We have 8.000 soldiers and of course there will diseases, it is natural, Sekerinska said, dismissing questions about the poor status of the barracks in what should soon be the latest NATO member country.
