State Electoral Commission President Oliver Derkoski said that the elections are being conducted largely orderly, with small incidents being reported.
I expect that by the end of the day the voters will legitimize the future Government as well as the entire electoral process, Derkoski said.
The turnout is over 40 percent with 11 hours of voting – below past general elections, but voters have extra two hours as the polling stations close at 21h. The coronavirus epidemic naturally reduced the turnout, but not catastrophically.
All issues that arise are being handled. I think that, overall, we can be satisfied with what we are seeing, Derkoski said. He pointed to the few incidents, that led to a several arrests for attempts to photograph ballots or similar violations, and the two interruptions of voting that were resolved quickly.
