Prime Minister Zaev and Justice Minister Renata Deskoska met Thursday with leaders of two Albanian opposition parties, Zijadin Sela and Bilal Kasami, and the topic of the talks was the new SPO law.

Talat Xhaferi stressed that even if the parties agree on the SPO these days, he will not schedule a session for adopting a law with a two-thirds majority, but will do so after May 6, 2019, after the end of the presidential election, because he does not want to risk running pre-election campaigns at the sessions.

I do not know what the views of President Xhaferi are, but I can say that what comes from the Government is if agreement is reached and we agree on the Law on Public Prosecutor’s Office, it should be made into law and be put on a parliament session, because it is a condition for obtaining a recommendation from the European Commission, says Deskoska.

Tonight there will be a new meeting scheduled for at 18:00 on which the government and the opposition will again try to find a solution to the Law on Public Prosecutor’s Office.
