Despite dire warnings from the Neurology Clinic in Skopje’s Mother Teresa complex, it is still being prepared to admit Covid-19 patients. The moves is part of Healthcare Minister Venko Filipce’s idea to add Covid wards to many of the clinics in this complex.

But doctors in this clinic said that an outbreak of the illness among their frail, often elderly patients who are recovering from stroke will cause a disaster. They sent out an open letter to the public warning of the danger.

Former Healthcare Minister Arben Taravari, who is a neurologist, joined in the warning.

There are many other clinics with much more competent staff in treating Covid-19 than our clinic. Nobody goes to the clinics that treat rheumatology or skin diseases, they are empty. There are just 3-4 patients in the Pulmology Clinic. The Neurology Clinic has the highest frequency of patients, with serious illnesses, Taravari said.
