The Government procured equipment for surveillance of online communications without an approval from the Intierior Ministry, warned VMRO-DPMNE in a statement. According to the opposition party, the equipment can tap any device and any telecommunications network.
Even though the law provides that the Interior Ministry must issue an approval for any purchase of equipment used to monitor communications, both the Ministry and Interior Minister Spasovski claim that they have not given approval, and have put that in writing. The Ministry is exclusively responsible to manage such equipment, and in this case that is not being done, VMRO said in a statement.
The party says that it is seriously concerned that the spying equipment has been used over the past year, without warrants.
