Special Prosecutor Katica Janeva claims she negotiated with O.K. to cooperate as a witness in a new pre-investigation led by the SPO.

In a statement released on the SPO’s website in relation to the latest set of tapes published in the Italian paper Verità, Janeva says she had talked to various people, often through their own mediators, to gain better positions in certain criminal cases.

I repeat that in the interest of pre-investigations and investigations conducted by the Prosecutor’s Office I run, I have repeatedly talked to various persons in an attempt to gain better positions in certain criminal cases, and this often happened through their own mediators. In this particular case, during that period, I held negotiations with the person O.K. to cooperate as a witness in a new pre-investigation conducted by the Prosecutor’s Office, along with one of my assistant prosecutors. I urge the investigating authorities to complete the investigation as soon as possible, gather all the evidence and complete all the forensic expertise related to the “Racket” case, to completely clear this case and clear my name, says Janeva.
