Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani informed Saturday afternoon that Macedonian diplomats in Ukraine have been evacuated from conflict-torn Kiev and are on their way to reach Moldova.

The situation in Kiev, especially during the night, has worsened. We decided to evacuate our diplomats on the day of the Russian aggression in Ukraine, but due to difficult circumstances they were not able to leave the Embassy. They were in hiding all this time. We then undertook coordination activities with our partners and managed to evacuate our diplomats through the security corridor half an hour ago and they have already left for Moldova, Osmani said.

The Minister informed that today they managed to start the evacuation process for 30 Macedonian nationals with the Special Monitoring Mission. Some of them, as he said, are currently headed to Moldova, and some of them to Poland.
