Macedonian citizen, Daniel Lazarevic, married to a Ukrainian woman, is stuck with his family in central Ukraine near Kremenchuk near the Dnieper.
He testified about the current situation in Ukraine in an interview with “Utrinski briefing”.
I am currently in Central Ukraine, close to the Dnieper River. There are no military operations here, but the situation is tense and people did not expect such a thing to happen. Several rockets were heard flying, but we saw no planes, no helicopters. It is peaceful here at the moment, Lazarevic said.
According to him, in the part of the country where he is located, there are no problems with the supply in the grocery stores.
There are products in the stores, but we cannot buy larger quantities, because everything is equally distributed to the residents who live here. There are hiding places. There are mostly houses here and each house has its own basement, says Lazarevic.
Regarding the payment, he says that there were some problems because payment in cash was more required.
On the first day of the invasion, all banks were closed. Even the gas station demanded to be paid in cash. It is normal at the moment, but I cannot say how much money can be withdrawn. There is no TV broadcast 24 hours, there is only via satellite. Ordinary TV that goes through analog antennas does not work. Those channels were shut down because the TV tower in Kyiv was bombed. There is a lot of censorship over the internet. I even tried to post some videos, but they were censored. There is a war, but it is still far from where I live, says Lazarevic.
Regarding the possibility to return to Macedonia with his family, he says that so far he has not received an answer from the Macedonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Two days ago, I established contact with the Macedonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, because I have two children. The daughter is two years old, the son is nine. If there is a contingent for extraction, they told me that they would call me, but I have not had heard from them for 30 hours, adds Lazarevic.
In the end, Lazarev commented on the overall developments in Ukraine.
War is not good for anyone, it is known who profits. I do not wish this on anyone. Ordinary people lose the lives of their sons and daughters. I would blame politicians on both sides. If they want, they can sit down and talk. They are hotheads, and the people will suffer, Lazarevic said.
