An anonymous poll conducted by the Fakulteti news site showed that 83.7 percent of participants would gladly move out of Macedonia if given an opportunity.
Only 7.9 percent of the nearly 1.500 participants in the poll said that they would remain in the country. The remaining 8.3 percent would be on the fence if the opportunity appears.
Preferred destination countries include Germany, Australia, Canada, France, the Netherlands, and some participants simply wrote “anywhere but here”. Most of them cite the poor standard of living as the reason why they would move out. Others would cite widespread corruption, poor healthcare, inefficient administration, lack of opportunities…
