Members of Parliament Jovan Mitrovski, Petar Atanasov, Alija Kamberovski and Fadil Zendeli, who testified in the April 2017 trial today, all agreed that former Speaker Trajko Veljanoski performed his duties in accordance with the law.

Veljanoski is charged by prosecutors loyal to the ruling SDSM party with allegedly influencing the incident that eruopted on April 27 2017. But all current and former representatives, including those from SDSM and SDSM aligned parties, said that Veljanoski was in the right.

Veljanoski called off the session of Parliament for the day, but SDSM and DUI staged an irregular vote to elect a new speaker. This provoked the protesters gathered in front of the Parliament to storm the building.
