VMRO-DPMNE President Hristijan Mickoski announced a major plan for the capital Skopje – purchase of at least 100 new electric buses, with the option that the manufacturer will open a factory in Macedonia, opening 500 jobs.

We are working seriously with several major manufacturers of electric buses. This is part of the program and the promises made by Mayor Danela Arsovska. We will make Skopje a leading city in the adoption of this technology. Each of the at least 100 new buses we purchase will reduce pollution by 80,000 tons of gases. The procurement of the buses is in the final stages, but we are in talks with these potential suppliers to set up a factory in Skopje, in Macedonia, that would employ at least 500 people. We will put Macedonia on the map of electric vehicle manufacturing. Many of these companies are looking for a base from where they will be able to supply the European market, Mickoski said.

He added that he instructed mayors from VMRO-DPMNE ran municipalities to be in contact with foreign investors who may be looking for alternative production sites due to the Russian war on Ukraine. Mickoski said that five of the manufacturing companies who already operate in Macedonia, brought here during the manufacturing expansion under the previous VMRO-DPMNE led Government, are already considering moving here some of their facilities from Eastern Europe.

During an event in Skopje to promote the work VMRO elected mayors have done it the capital, Mickoski also announced a major spring push to build and reconstruct roads, kindergartens, water and sewage lines and other capital investments.

We are showing a new approach, fresh energy and we are lining up new capital investments. The changes that are coming will be deep and fundamental. These are small steps but of major importance. We have responsbility to lead our people forward, Mickoski said.
