VMRO-DPMNE Vice President Vladimir Misajlovski announced that the party won in 14 municipalities, including major cities such as Bitola and Ohrid, Gevgelija, Makedonska Kamenica, Resen, Kratovo and Radovis, as well as rural areas such as Vasilevo, Brvenica, Zelenikovo and Lozovo.
The opposition party also leads in Vevcani, Pehcevo and Probistip. Of course, the crucial mayoral race, in the capital Skopje, on which Zoran Zaev staked his position as Prime Minister, will take more time to have all the votes processed, but VMRO backed candidate Danela Arsovska has an overwhelming lead.
A total of 44 municipalities are up for grabs, and VMRO and SDSM are competing in about 30 of them, but the key cities and urban centers in Skopje all seem to go the way of VMRO, except for Centar.
