The Ministry of Education and Science is preparing a completely new model of teaching in which no scientific discipline will be lost, but the concept in which students study the material will change. The purpose of these reforms is to give students a complete picture of a particular event or topic, and this is achieved through an interdisciplinary and integrated approach. In this way, students will better understand and remember the topics they study and at the same time will develop their analytical skills, said the Ministry of Education and Science.
According to the Ministry of Education and Science, the current model of teaching teaches students only facts and does not allow them to connect information and knowledge from the various disciplines they study in elementary school.
The new concept for elementary education is developmental and is being prepared based on the education models that operate in several European countries, including Slovenia, Estonia and Finland. The results of the international tests, the domestic analyzes, as well as the attitudes of the teachers, parents and students are crucial for the changes, which give a clear picture in which direction our education should go, the ministry said.
