The SDSM led Government abandoned an already prepared project – to build a new clinic in the Mother Teresa complex in downtown Skopje – in exchange for a new, larger clinic outside of the city where work hasn’t even started yet. If we had this new clinic done, it could have helped greatly during the pandemic, said doctor Igor Nikolov, head of the VMRO-DPMNE Healthcare Committee, during the party debate on public healthcare that was held today.
Five years went by since work on the Mother Teresa clinic was supposed to begin. It could’ve helped a lot during the pandemic, we could’ve saved many lives, doctor Nikolov said.
He also warned that another area where the SDSM Government is badly failing the public is in education of new doctors. Nikolov said that over the past years, the successful program to send doctors and nurses for specialist education abroad has been completely abandoned. “We haven’t sent a single doctor or nurse to a foreign clinic. That would have also helped us bring knowledge and techniques to fight Covid”, Nikolov said.
