In an attempt to bolster the support among, for him, the key ethnic Albanian vote, SDSM – DUI candidate Stevo Pendarovski told the voters in Sisevo that a win for opposition candidate Gordana Siljanovska – Davkova would mean an end to the newly adopted law on the use of the Albanian language.

The law violates the constitutional principle that the Albanian language is in official use in municipalities where it is realistically needed – where Albanians make up at least 20 percent of the population, and makes it official across the country. Although in collision with the Constitution and left unsigned by President Gjorge Ivanov, the Zoran Zaev Government is implementing the law to bolster its share of Albanian voters who expect the law to create many more public sector jobs for Albanians.

Not all of us candidates are the same. Let’s vote massively on April 21st and May 5th and support a continuation of this policy which is supported by the majority fo citizens, the policy of togetherness and one society for all. Only this will take us to Europe and NATO. Gordana Siljanovska’s policies follow the lead of Nikola Gruevski and Mickoski and will lead to the nullification of the law on the languages. That would de facto mean a third term for Ivanov, Pendarovski said in the majority Albanian village of Sisevo near Skopje.

Pendarovski already announced that he will not follow other constitutional clauses that regulate inter-ethnic relations and balance of power among the communities.
