Macedonian President Stevo Pendarovski in an interview with the Austrian newspaper “Die Presse” warns the EU that it will not be good for anyone if we do not receive the promised date for negotiations.
We even changed the name of the country because of EU. No country has ever done that, Pendarovski told “Die Presse”.
We do not hope for a signal, we expect a decision. Over the past year and a half, we have fullfilled everything. The citizens asked us why we had to change the name of our country. Our answer was – so that we could join the EU. We delivered everything that has been required of us so far. Now the citizens are asking why there is a delay, Pendarovski told “Die Presse”.
Hours before today’s ministerial meeting in Luxembourg, official Paris has not revealed its position on the start of EU accession negotiations with Macedonia.
