President Stevo Pendarovski believes working groups of SDSM and VMRO-DPMNE are very close to an agreement over the Law on the Public Prosecutor’s Office if there is political will.
The differences left over the law are so small that it is up to all parties involved to overcome themselves and find a solution as soon as possible in the interest of the citizens, Pendarovski said.
Asked whether there is a possibility to call a new leaders’ meeting on the law, the head of state said he maintains regular contacts with all leaders of the political parties, but it is very important to see if there is political will to solve the problem.
If there is no political will it is pointless to gather them. Even if St. Peter gathers them no solution will be found. If there is a will it doesn’t matter who organizes them and where they meet, they will find a solution in half an hour, Pendarovski said.
He stressed that failing to pass the law would not be an obstacle to the expected October decision to start EU negotiations.
