A new poll conducted by Market Vision for the MKD.mk news site shows the highest yet VMRO lead over SDSM in the recent polling by this agency. VMRO-DPMNE enjoys the support of 26.7 percent of the voters, against just 9.2 percent for SDSM.

In terms of party leaders, VMRO’s Hristijan Mickoski has the support of 12.95 percent of those polled, triple that of SDSM leader and Prime Minister Dimitar Kovacevski at 4.25 percent. Kovacevski is even behind DUI leader Ali Ahmeti, who is making full use of the dominant position his party has in the Government to advance his political agenda. Levica leader Dimitar Apasiev and former SDSM official Maksim Dimitrievski poll at 3.5 and 2.1 percent respectively.

The trend shown in the poll adds to SDSM’s misery. The party had the support of 12.4 percent of the voters in February, losing over a quarter of the support over the year. VMRO-DPMNE was at 21.8 percent in February, before rising to 26.7 percent now. Mickoski rose from 11 percent to 12.9 and Kovacevski fell from 8.2 percent in February to the current 4.25.

When asked who they believe will win the coming elections, 16.35 percent said that it will be VMRO, 5.95 chose DUI and SDSM is ranked third, with 5.65 percent.
