Increased calls from within the party urge the VMRO-DPMNE leadership to participate in the technical Government that is supposed to be formed 100 days before the elections. Party Vice President and Aerodrom Mayor Timco Mucunski today said that holding leadership roles in five important Government departments will help a more fair and credible election process.

It is healthy that we have a discussion within the party over this issue. Polls show that eight out of 10 citizens are dissatisfied with the way in which the Republic of Macedonia is going, and this means that the citizens expect change. In order to deliver that to the citizens, we need to ensure a democratic and fair electoral process, Mucunski said.

The law provides that the Prime Minister and two important ministers (Interior Ministry and Labour and Welfare Ministry) resign 100 days ahead of the elections. These two ministries should be taken over by candidates from the main opposition party – VMRO-DPMNE – an the party will also have deputy minister roles in three additional departments.

The issue is that Prime Minister Kovacevski from SDSM will step down in favor of a DUI candidate Talat Xhaferi. VMRO is vehemently opposed to having the notoriously corrupt DUI party take over the key Government position and have offered to give up on their participation in the Government if SDSM breaks this arrangement with DUI. But SDSM, desperate for the DUI support in the elections, announced that they will help appoint Xhaferi as interim Prime Minister.

DUI lacks a political concept, due to the extensive levels of corruption we see in their party. Left without arguments, all they do is accuse others of Albanophobia. It is a fact that we have a serious disagreement with the value system promoted by the DUI leadership and we can’t see them advancing any serious project for the benefit of the citizens, whether they are called Visar or Viktor, Jeona or Jovana, Mucunski said
