The snow falling across Macedonia, especially in the western mountainous parts of the country, is causing serious traffic issues. A portion of the south-west of the country, including much of Ohrid, is left without electricity and mountainous villages are snowed in.
Citizens are sharing pictures from snowed in mountain passes, that are dangerous to cross. This includes the Straza pass, which is a key choke point on the Gostivar – Kicevo road.

The public company charged with maintaining roads, which is led by Bekim Memedi and Samka Ibraimovski, is apparently unprepared for the snow-storm.

Trucks were ordered to stay away from a number of mountainous roads, including Kicevo – Ohrid, Bitola – Resen and between Struga and the Kafasan border crossing with Albania.
