Romanian Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu said Thursday that there were no talks in the European Union on the decoupling of Macedonia and Albania on the EU accession path.

There are no such discussions in the EU, about the separation of Macedonia and Albania. We in Romania do not support such a decision. It is important to find a solution to the problem with Bulgaria and to start negotiations with the two candidate countries as soon as possible, Aurescu told a news conference in Skopje today.

According to Minister Bujar Osmani, there is no announcement that such a decision can be made by June, but he was convinced that after June, if no agreement is reached with Bulgaria, the issue will have to be opened.

So far, there is no signal from any member state that it prefers the decoupling of Macedonia and Albania in this process. But that the issue will be opened from June, I am quite sure of that, said Osmani.

According to him, this will not be a good development for Macedonia and therefore we should not allow it to happen.
