SDSM declared a win for its presidential candidate Stevo Pendarovski after, with over 80 percent of the votes counted, he maintained a lead of over 50.000 votes compared to the opposition candidate Gordana Siljanovska – Davkova. A small group of party members took to celebrating in front of the main party office in Skopje, with music and an Albanian flag – in honor of the Albanian voters who delivered the win for Pendarovski.
Initial projections have remained stable and our joint presidential candidate Stevo Pendarovski is in the lead with more than 30.000 votes ahead of Siljanovska. We expect that this trend will continue and that Pendarovski will be elected President of the country, said Kostadin Kostadinov, SDSM party spokesman.
SDSM supporters posted videos of themselves celebrating in Skopje with folk music. Noticeable is the Albanian flag on display, after those Albanian voters who came out, voted nearly unanimously for Pendarovski.
