Nominations for the April 21 presidential elections should be submitted to the State Election Commission (SEC) by March 21 at the latest, whereas the campaign starts on April 1.
In order to formalize the presidential nomination, candidates should submit 10,000 citizen signatures or 30 parliamentary signatures.
According to the SEC, for the sixth presidential elections, seven candidates are in the process of collecting signatures and that only VMRO-DPMNE’s candidate professor Gordana Siljanovska Davkova has collected the necessary signatures.
It is still uncertain whether the joint candidate of SDSM and DUI, Stevo Pendarovski, will submit to the SEC signatures from citizens or MPs. SDSM says that they are considering both options.
