Two persons were reportedly detained after an incident in front of the Macedonian Parliament, where protests were taking place today against the push to rename Macedonia into North Macedonia.
According to eyewitnesses, two men tried to get over the fence separating protesters from the Parliament, and scuffled with the police, after which they were detained.
Throughout the day a large group of protesters kept vigil in front of the building, at one point joined by VMRO-DPMNE President Hristijan Mickoski and top party officials.
After the Speaker dismissed the Parliament for the day, apparently not having the necessary two thirds majority to push a vote, protest organizer Dragan Ugrinovski said that it was a success for the protesters. The rally should continue tomorrow.
