Two patients died of Covid-19 in the Debar hospital overnight, hospital manager Baki Halili said.

The patients, a woman from Debar and a woman from Rostuse, both had prior health issues and succumbed to the disease after midnight and early this morning. There are currently 12 patients treated in the small town hospital, all of whom require supplemental oxygen.

Debar lost 23 patients so far and has three citizens treated in clinics in Skopje as well as nearly 90 ordered to isolate at home. The city was the first Covid-19 hotspot in the country, after a couple who lived in Italy brought the illness in February. For a while it was placed under a quarantine, and the illness was considered overcome there, but flared up again with the spike after the month of Ramadan, and especially with the on-going autumn spike.
