The US Embassy in Athens denied media reports about a secret meeting between Ambassador Geoffrey Pyatt and Zoran Zaev this weekend.
Greek daily To Vima reported that Pyatt and Zaev met in utmost secrecy in Zaev’s villa on the Cassandra peninsula in Chalkidiki on Saturday.
Not true, the Embassy briefly replied over Twitter.
Pyatt was in the region of Macedonia over the weekend, and attended an event in the US consulate in Solun/Thessaloniki while meeting Greek officials in the region.
Pyatt was actively involved in promoting the Prespa treaty, just as his counterpart in Macedonia, Jess Baily, was active in Skopje.
