The Macedonian Parliament was not able to hold a session today, after it was revealed that six representatives from the ruling majority are absent after contracting the coronavirus.

The opposition helped the ruling majority prepare the order for the day, which requires the presence of at least 61 representatives, but as it would not vote for the legislative proposals promoted by the Government, Speaker Talat Xhaferi was forced to suspend the session. VMRO-DPMNE representatives walked out after Xhaferi would not allow a discussion on the growing crisis with Bulgaria.

Xhaferi condemned the ethnic Albanian opposition parties for also walking out of the session, in order to show that the ruling majority can’t hold a session, and said that alternatives should be found. The ruling coalition wants to be allowed to hold online session, but the opposition is against the idea.

SDSM – DUI and BESA have only 62 seats in Parliament, out of a total of 120, meaning that even a few illnesses can block their work.
