Zoran Dimitrovski – Zhoro, the editor in chief of the pro-Government Fokus magazine, was dismissed today, it was reported.

According to the Netpress news site, Dimitrovski has blamed several satirical articles published in Fokus, which were seen as critical of the Zoran Zaev regime, and especially mocking of Zaev’s style of speaking and local accent. Netpress reports that Dimitrovski was warned to stop mocking Zaev but he reportedly insisted that such articles were published about former Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski as well.

Dimitrovski worked under the famous founder of Fokus Nikola Mladenov, who established it into a stalwart conservative magazine, which prided on being critical of whoever is in power. After parting ways with Mladenov, Dimitrovski worked in several outlets supportive of the conservative VMRO-DPMNE party only to return to Fokus after Mladenov’s tragic death in 2013, as the magazine was re-invented into a left wing outlet.
