Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic expressed support to Bulgaria in its quest to ensure that Goce Delcev and other Macedonian VMRO heroes are considered Bulgarian and in return asked that Bulgaria shows understanding in its position toward Kosovo. Dacic spoke after Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov asked the new European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell to change his position on Kosovo and recognize its independence from Serbia.

Just as we have understanding about the issue of Bulgarian national identity, language, or Goce Delcev, we expet understanding in the importance of the Kosovo issue for the Serbian people. The statement the Bulgarian Prime Minister made is not about fishing or the quality of Serbian cheese, but about the territorial integrity of Serbia, Dacic said.
