Prime Minister Zoran Zaev and his coalition partner Ali Ahmeti agreed that in exchange for DUI’s support of a joint candidate from the ranks of SDSM or close to it, the largest Albanian party will take over the position of the governor of the Central Bank, government sources told Zhurnal.mk.

Sources from the ruling coalition, who asked to remain anonymous, said Zaev and Ahmeti had already agreed on the joint candidate for the April 21 elections, and their name will be announced today, as the head of DUI announced.

In return, Zaev promised to satisfy the long-standing demands and goals of DUI for an Albanian to be the head of the country’s central bank, the same source told Zhurnal.
