DUI party leader Ali Ahmeti said that he expects that he will win the majority among ethnic Albanians. DUI fought with Zoran Zaev’s SDSM party for the Albanian vote, as well as with the Alliance of Albanians, for the traditional role of the party that is invited in the ruling coalition as the representative of the Albanians.

SDSM was also hoping to win in the low turnout 6th electoral district, which has an Albanian majority, hoping that ethnic Macedonian supporters in the district, and their BESA coalition partner, will help SDSM beat DUI.
