In an interview with RTV21 Kosovo, DUI leader Ali Ahmeti also commented on the support of the Macedonian population for Russia, ie some Macedonians that some analysts estimate go up to two thirds.

You see, as for the Macedonians, they had a certain alliance with Serbia during the NATO bombing in 1999, but there is also nostalgia stemming from those over 60 years of living together in Yugoslavia. They were privileged in that Yugoslavia, because we Albanians were the ones who were oppressed, we were ‘tenants’ on our property, Ahmeti said.

He points out that this nostalgia does not allow to see clearly that the future of this country, the security of this country, peace and stability in this country is through the integration of the country in the EU as we integrated it in NATO.

The future does not belong to the peoples, ie the politicians who install Nazi and fascist policies, because the people are not to blame for that. Just as Milosevic, for example, installed such a Nazi and fascist policy, we cannot blame the entire Serbian people for this, although in such situations the people should distance themselves from such policies. As for Ukraine, we unequivocally support Ukraine’s just war and condemn Russian aggression, and it is a shame for a superpower to occupy a sovereign state. We hope that a solution will be found and we as a country have supported all the initiatives of the international community, Ahmeti added.
