The BESA party re-elected Bilal Kasami as its leader, and appointed its Secretary Arianit Hoxha as Kasami’s Vice President.
The party did well in the local elections, winning the biggest majority Albanian city in Macedonia – Tetovo – where Kasami beat incumbent Mayor Teuta Arifi. It followed up by leaving the coalition with SDSM and DUI, but had a defection from its ranks that sabotaged the attempted vote of no confidence in the Government.
This is a great honor for me and great responsibility. We remain true to the principles we espouse, Kasami said.
The party also announced that it will abandon its constructive attitude in Parliament, after one of its representatives was kicked out from a key committee in an attempt by the ruling coalition to fast-track judicial appointments.
