Bulgarian Prime Minister Kiril Petkov protested the actions of the country’s prosecutors, who are not cooperating with the EU launched investigation into the former Prime Minister Boyko Borisov. Prosecutor Ivan Gesev is seen as a Borisov loyalist, and is resisting calls from Petkov to resign.

We are again facing a complete sabotage from the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Bulgaria led by Ivan Gesev. They are covering up prosecutions. Information from a person that was extorted are being ignored, to avoid launching an investigation, Petkov said. Borisov was briefly detained upon request of EU prosecutor Laura Kovesi, for a corruption investigation.
