Healthcare officials are looking into the possibility of advising the Government will look into the possibility of imposing an evening curfew.

Currently the Government imposed a strict mask mandate, even when you’re outside alone, and advised citizens not to be out after 21h and to avoid family gatherings. The next step would be to make the 21h curfew official and mandatory.

At the moment, despite the worrying numbers of newly infected patients, the packed hospitals and the high mortality rate and the exhausted medical staff, we still see high frequency of people in the evenings. In bars, restaurants, booking places, they all remain open. We hope that we won’t be forced to impose the unpopular step and introduce a curfew, sources in the Committee on Infectious Diseases briefed the press.

Just days before Prime Minister Zoran Zaev said that he is satisfied with the level of respect for the non-binding recommendation that citizens remain at home after 21h.
