General practitioners and specialist doctors will go on a strike tomorrow. They will only admit patients who urgently need medical care.
The reason for the strike is the failure of the Government to accept any of their demands following the meeting two weeks ago. After talking to deputy Healthcare Minister Vladimir Rendevski, the doctors also met with Minister Bekim Sali, but no progress was made.
The key doctors’ union demands an increase in the payments made to general practitioners. They cite rising new costs, including those incurred by the increase in the minimum wage which is often paid to novice nurses, as the reason why they can’t go on with the current payment levels.
