EU enlargement policy, including the stabilization and association process, the latest developments with Russian aggression against Ukraine and the Union’s continued support for the country and the Ukrainian people, the situation in the Middle East and the proposed revision of the multiannual financial framework for the period 2021-2027, will be the main topics of the two-day EU Summit starting today in Brussels.

In addition, as reported by the MIA correspondent from Brussels, the EU leaders will review the progress in the implementation of the previous conclusions related to security and defense and will give additional directions in that sector, and will also discuss specific issues related to the foreign policy of The Union.

In the invitation addressed to the heads of state or government of the EU member states to participate in the Summit, the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, points out that the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022 marked a turning point in the history of Europe, recalling that since the outbreak of the war, the Union made a number of unprecedented decisions to support Ukraine and strengthen the sovereignty of Europe.
