More than 300-hectare forest was hit by the wildfire in the Prespa region near the tourist settlements Otesevo and Sirhan, which engulfed part of the Galicica National Park on Friday. Firefighters and staff from the National Park are trying to prevent the spread of the fire and protect the weekend settlement near Sirhan, SDK reports.
The whole Prespa region is in flames. Fire broke out near Otesevo, Sirhan, first the reed around the lake, and then the wind transferred the fire through the asphalt road and engulfed the forest. It moves towards the Galicica National Park. We do not have electricity, a transmission line was hit by the fire, says a villa owner in Sirhan.
There is an emergency meeting of the crisis staff of the Municipality of Resen, and the locals from the surrounding villages say that they don’t have electricity, because the transmission line was engulfed by the fire.
Firefighters say that it is not a single fire, but that various places are on fire. The crisis staff is expected to make a decision to deploy Canadairs, but it is also questioned because it is difficult for aircrafts to extinguish fire at night.
